| The County of Kern has received several federal stimulus grants under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) program approved by Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama in February 2009, and under the Housing and Economic Recovery Act (HERA) signed into law by President George W. Bush in July 2008. The County has received grants totaling more than $13 million for job training, $11.5 million for road projects, $14.5 million for housing and community development, $4 million for energy efficiency and conservation projects, and funding for other programs. Several stimulus grant applications are pending, and this site will be periodically updated to reflect grants received and progress on the programs and projects they are funding. |
