Supervisor Watson's extensive background in finance and management over a long and distinguished career will serve the county well.
- CPA, Ernst and Ernst, Los Angeles and San Diego, 5 years.
- Finance, Administration, Personnel - Time Life Broadcasting Company and McGraw-Hill Broadcasting Company, San Diego, 9 years.
- Vice President/General Manager, television stations in Bakersfield and Denver. President, Ackerley Group, television stations in Bakersfield, Fresno, Santa Maria, and San Luis Obispo, 27 years.

| Ray Watson was named Broadcaster of the Year (2002) by the California Broadcasters Association. KGET TV-17 (NBC) in Bakersfield dedicated its downtown studio building in Ray's name upon his retirement in July 2002. |

Community service has been a hallmark of Ray Watson's career. For that service Ray was awarded the John Brock Award by CSUB SBPA as Community Leader of the Year. Here is a partial list of the activities and organizations with which Supervisor Watson has been involved:

- Graduate of USC with a degree in Accounting.
- Served in United States Army Finance Corps, Fort Irwin, CA.
- Married to wife Marlene, 41 years.
- Two children and five grandchildren.
- Member, St. Paul's Anglican Church, 25 years. Served as Senior Warden, Vestry member, Treasurer, and Lay Reader.
Commitment to family, service to his country, community, and to his church, Supervisor Watson has been a respected and integral part of Kern County and brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the Board of Supervisors.
