Long Term Disability

Long Term Disability benefits are available to all benefit eligible County employees on a payroll deduction basis through UNUM Life. This is a group policy that is available to all employees at very competitive cost. Three different levels of coverage are available. Depending on the level selected, 50% of salary, 40% of salary or 25% of salary would be paid on a tax free basis while disabled, once a 90 day elimination (waiting) period passes. In general benefits will last until age 65. Benefits for pre-existing conditions will not be eligible for payments until participants have been covered under the plan for two years. Eligible employees must enroll promptly upon becoming eligible for this program or they will be considered a late entrant. Late entrants will be subject to medical underwriting, which could result in coverage being denied. For further information contact: Chimienti and Associates at 1 (877) 733-1670, extension 17.
