Affordable Housing Ad Hoc Task Force
Members
Legal Authority: Established by Board of Supervisors Minute Order on August 31, 2004.
Membership Qualifications: Five members appointed by the Board of Supervisors, one nominated by each of the five supervisors, two at-large private sector members, and representatives from the Community and Economic Development Department, Veterans Service Department, Housing Authority of Kern County, City of Bakersfield, Kern County Homeless Collaborative, Behavioral Health Board, Self-Help Enterprises, Investment Property Association of Kern County, Building Industry Association of Kern County, Bakersfield Association of Realtor, Lenders-Fannie Mae, and Developers. As the task force begins its work, other organizations and/or individuals may be identified for membership. The above list is not intended to be all inclusive, but suggestive of the types of organizations that have a role in low-and very low-income housing. Individuals with experience in developing and or financing housing who have an interest in finding effective ways to encourage the construction of additional affordable housing in Kern County.
Term: Serve at the pleasure of the board; absent removal by the board, each member shall serve an 18 month term.
Duties: The task force serves in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors to review the issue of low- and very low-income housing, encompassing the broad spectrum of individuals requiring affordable housing. Provide a report to the Board documenting current public and private efforts to provide affordable housing and any initiatives that the Task Force develops for future efforts.
Meeting Place and Time: Meeting place and time of the Task Force is to be determined.
Compensation: None.
Ethics Training: Pursuant to State law, on or after January 1, 2006, any person newly appointed shall successfully complete a course in ethics training approved by the Fair political Practices Commission and Attorney General. Each member is required to complete this training every two years.
