Established by Board of Supervisors Resolution
No. 88-682 dated 8/16/88. Minute Order dated 11/3/92 increased
the membership. Minute Order dated 5/18/93, increased the membership.
Minute Order dated 7/11/95 amended the By-Laws to go dark in months of July and August.
Minute Order dated 7/29/03 reduced the number of meetings per year from nine to six, changed the membership
roster from 30 to 28 positions, and limited absences per year to three. |
| Membership Qualifications: |
The Aids Advisory Board shall consist of twenty-eight
members, five appointed by the Board of Supervisors to
represent each supervisorial district. The remaining twenty-three shall be
members of the community. |
| Term: |
Three-year staggered term. |
| Duties: |
The purpose of the Advisory Board is to advise
the Kern County Board of Supervisors and the Kern County Health Officer
on local conditions and the outlook for Kern County based on the national
and global experiences with AIDS including existing and desirable programs
and services affecting the living and working conditions of and care for
persons who are infected with the AIDS Virus in Kern County and on measures
taken or desirable for the prevention of and for control of the spread
of the Human Immune-Deficiency Virus (H.I.V.) |
| Meeting Place and Time: |
Public Health Department, 1800 Mount Vernon Avenue, 1st Floor, Dr. Hans Einstein
Training Center, Bakersfield, at 7:00 p.m. the first Wednesday of January, March, May, July, September, and November. Meetings
may be continued to such time and places as
may be agreed upon at any meeting and/or at the request of the chairperson
or County Health Officer. Special or emergency meetings may be called as needed, and shall
be noticed as provided by law. |
| Compensation: |
Members shall serve without pay and shall not
be eligible to receive compensation except expenses incurred with K.C.A.A.B.
and County approval. |
| Ethics Training: |
Pursuant to State law, on or after January 1, 2006, any person newly appointed shall successfully complete a course
in ethics training approved by the Fair political Practices Commission and Attorney General. Each
member is required to complete this training every two years. |
