| Legal Authority: |
Established by Board of Supervisors Minute Order of January, 1997,
to facilitate the receipt and expenditure of block grant funds received
from the United States Department of Justice. |
| Membership Qualifications: |
Members must be representatives of groups with a recognized interest
in criminal justice and crime or substance abuse prevention and treatment.
The advisory board must include representatives from at least the following:
| (a) |
local law enforcement; |
| (b) |
local prosecutor's office; |
| (c) |
local court system; |
| (d) |
local public school system; |
| (e) |
local non-profit group active in crime prevention or drug use prevention
or treatment; |
| (f) |
Chief Probation Officer; |
| (g) |
Presiding Judge, Superior Court; and |
| (h) |
Chairman, Board of Supervisors. |

| Duties: |
The Criminal Justice Grant Advisory Board shall be responsible for
evaluating potential uses for the Federal grant funds, scheduling a public
hearing before the Board of Supervisors, and submitting appropriate recommendations
to the Kern County Board of Supervisors regarding the use of funds received
under the United States Department of Justice Block Grant Program. |
