Established by Board of Supervisors Resolution No.
72-430, pursuant to Sections 10100 et seq. of the Public Utilities Code
(AB 2386), as the Greater Bakersfield Metropolitan Transit District.
The name was changed to the Golden Empire Transit District in 1974. |
| Membership Qualifications: |
Five members: two members appointed by Board of
Supervisors, two members appointed by Bakersfield City Council, and one
member appointed by majority vote of other four members of board. |
| Term: |
Four-year staggered term commencing at noon on the
first Monday following the first day of January. |
| Duties: |
Board shall supervise and regulate every transit facility owned and operated
or controlled by district, including fixing of rates, rentals, charges and
classifications, and making and enforcement of regulations, contracts,
practices, and schedules for, or in connection with, any transit facility owned
or controlled by district. |
| Meeting Place and Time: |
Transit Office
1830 Golden State Avenue
Bakersfield CA
1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. |
| Compensation: |
$50.00 a business meeting but no more than $100 a month |
| Ethics Training: |
Pursuant to State law, on or after January 1, 2006, any person newly appointed shall successfully complete a course
in ethics training approved by the Fair political Practices Commission and Attorney General. Each
member is required to complete this training every two years. |
