Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council (J.J.C.C.)
Members
Legal Authority: Established by Board of Supervisors Resolution 96-454, pursuant to Article 18.7, Section 749.22 of Chapter 2 of Part 1 of Division 2 of the Welfare and Institutions Code.
Membership Qualifications:
There shall be a minimum of eleven (11) regular members of the Council, representing the following agencies, who shall have full voting rights on the Council:
a) the Chief Probation Officer, who shall act as chair
b) the District Attorney's Office
c) the Public Defender's Office
d) the Sheriff's Department
e) the Board of Supervisors
f) the Department of Social Services
g) the Department of Mental Health
h) a Community-based drug and alcohol program
i) a City Police Department
j) the County Office of Education or a School District
k) an at-large community representative
Term: Pleasure of the Board of Supervisors for a two-year term
Duties: As its primary function, the J.J.C.C. shall develop and implement a continuum of county-based responses to juvenile crime. The J.J.C.C. is also be responsible for developing a comprehensive, multi agency plan that identifies the resources and strategies for providing an effective continuum of responses for the prevention, intervention, supervision, treatment, and incarceration of juvenile offenders. The duties of the J.J.C.C. shall include, but not be limited to, the component listed in section 749.22 of the Welfare and Institutions Code.
