Who pays for all this?
Local cable companies pay annual franchise fees to the County. Through the use of a small portion of these fees, and support from Cox and then Time Warner Cable, KGOV was constructed and derives its operational budget. Cox and Bright House continue to support the station through the use of their fiber optic transmission system.

What are the benefits to having
KGOV?
With the ability to view local government meetings from their homes via television or from their PC (KGOV-Live), the public has easier access to hear what local government is discussing thus keeping Kern County residents more informed of governmental issues and decision making. The public is now able to attend the Board meetings and not take a day off work.
