VA News Release

VA plans expansion of benefits for disability claims for conditions related to certain toxic exposures

Three new conditions have been added to the Agent Orange presumptive list:  bladder cancer, hypothyroidism, and Parkinsonism.  And claims for those conditions will be subject to the Nehmer v. USDVA ruling, which may result in earlier effective dates for benefit entitlement and for those previously denied claims, the VA will have those claims automatically reviewed.

Additionally, the VA is looking into research about particulate matter exposure for veterans who served in Southwest Asia during the Persian Gulf War and/or after September 19, 2001.
