Each year, we come together not just as professionals, but as a community to stand beside victims and survivors, to listen, and to ensure their voices are never silenced.

This year, we honored those remembered through the Victims of Violent Crime Memorial, a powerful tribute holding thousands of names, each one representing a life taken too soon in Kern County. Although as prosecutors we pursue justice with determination, we do so with the understanding that no verdict can bring back a life, and no sentence can fully heal the pain left behind.

Justice is important, but so is compassion, remembrance, and standing with those who carry that loss every single day.

To those we’ve lost to violent crime: your lives matter, your stories will be preserved, and you will never be forgotten.
