SBA Disaster Assistance for Erskine Fire Victims (PDF)
This morning the Small Business Administration (SBA) issued a disaster declaration for the Erskine Fire, enabling individuals and businesses impacted by the fire to receive low-interest rate loans. (This is different from what FEMA was working on for a presidential major disaster declaration).
The SBA will be opening a Disaster Loan Outreach Center in Lake Isabella beginning on July 27th to answer questions about SBA's disaster loan program, explain the application process and help each individual complete their application

New Remote Testimony Request Form
Use the form to request to speak at
(not watch) a Kern County Board of Supervisors meeting from one of the
three available remote locations in Lake Isabella, Mojave or Ridgecrest.
The deadline for submitting a request is 5 PM on the Friday
before the meeting date. If you submit a request after the deadline,
staff will attempt to accommodate your request but there are no
Sandbag Saturday - December 19th (PDF)
The Kern County Fire Department is assisting the public in preparing for the predicted upcoming El Nino storms by providing free sandbags and sand in an event to be held in several locations throughout the county on December 19th from 10:00am to 12:00 noon.
Residents can fill up to 25 sandbags per address with provided sand. Supplies are

Low-interest Federal Disaster Loans Available
Small, nonfarm businesses in Kern County may be eligible for low-interest federal disaster loans if they can show the drought has caused them financial harm. Loan applicants may apply online at disasterloan.sba.gov/ela, call 800-659-2955 or email email@example.com.
The deadline to apply is May 18.
