Supervisor Peterson welcomed a student from West High School who was present at the meeting.



Supervisor Parra reported on the freeze disaster relief efforts and commended community organizations, the media, and county departments for their support in the relief effort; Joshua Rudnick, Greater Bakersfield Legal Assistance and the Kern Freeze Relief Coalition, addressed the Board regarding the apprehension of individuals affected by the disaster in applying for one-time assistance due to conflicting definitions of "public charges" by the Immigration and Naturalization Services (INS).
