Use the Evidence Submission Portal System to securely log information about the evidence, including the nature of the evidence, the related offense(s), individual(s) and details regarding the specific analyses requested.

Print a laboratory receipt for the evidence from the Evidence Submission/Reporting Portal system.

If submitting larger items, call (661) 868-5367 ahead of time so that the Evidence Control Unit personnel can take them into the evidence bay on the first floor of the building.

Submit the physical evidence and/or CD/DVD of digital data along with the laboratory receipt (if available) to Evidence Control Unit personnel at the Kern Regional Crime Laboratory.

Please note that, during the course of forensic examination, the Kern Regional Crime Laboratory reserves the right to conduct any additional forensic work that is required to most fully develop the information available from the evidence submitted, develop investigative leads, or to most effectively use limited samples. Requests for analysis that are inappropriate for the type of evidence submitted will not be fulfilled.
Agencies submitting evidence for analysis must have a current Simplified Reporting Agreement on file with the laboratory, signed by the agency’s designee. If your agency has not yet signed the agreement, please bring a completed copy with you when submitting evidence.
