The Recycling Lives program is a powerful partnership between the County of Kern–Employers’ Training Resource and the Kern High School District–Bakersfield Adult School, created to open meaningful pathways to success for adults across Kern County. Serving individuals who have experienced homelessness, addiction, incarceration, or long-term disconnection from the workforce, the program delivers targeted support that helps participants rebuild their lives and move toward long-term stability.
Since its launch, the program has enrolled 145 students, achieving an impressive 90.4% completion rate with a low 9.6% dropout rate. The outcomes underscore its effectiveness: 61% of graduates secure employment upon completion, while 18% continue their education to further expand their opportunities. The program also reflects a commitment to diversity and inclusion, with women representing 33% of all participants.
Together, these results showcase a transformative initiative, one that empowers individuals, strengthens the local workforce, and uplifts communities throughout Kern County.
