Escape the Heat: Cooling Center Information and Current Status

Senior citizens and others at risk from extreme heat can find relief at cooling centers across Kern County. Cooling center information will be updated daily.

Petroglyph Parking Lot Closed for Repairs

The repairs should be completed by tomorrow evening, July 10th. The parking lot is expected to reopen on Wednesday, July 11.

Further work on the parking lot is scheduled to take place the first weekend in August, which will close the parking lot from the 4th through the 5th.

Kern County Parks & Recreation manages 8 regional parks, 40 neighborhood parks, and 25 public buildings, supervises three golf courses and landscapes 76 county buildings. Our facilities include fishing lakes, Veterans, Senior, Community and Recreation Buildings, group and individual campgrounds, boating, sailing, a soccer park, and museums.
